Deep drawing process is an important industrial processes where it has been extensively used. It is a process for converting the blank metal to make cylindrical shape in most of the cases. A research program for performing basic calculations related to the product shape was utilized. Eighteen geometric shapes have been selected for the production in this process. The program is include the general equations for this controlling process for each form. When choosing one of the shapes in the program, the dimensions of the desired product are selected. In other words, the inputs to the program are the required dimensions of the product before reaching the required deportation. In addition, diameter, height and other related dimension are computed which were chosen for each stage throughout the operation. Computer program is aimed to help designers templates deep drawing quickly through the implementation of the process, and this exceeds the designer experience that is required to perform the require calculations.

The present work deals with the preparation of mesoporous metal oxide systems by means of new block copolymer templates and the development of original structural characterization methods. In the first part of the work is shown that PIB-PEO block copolymers generate robust and highly porous metal oxide textures characterized by large pores of spherical form. Sol-gel mesoporous TiO2 films were also tested as semiconductors in dye sensitized solar cell devices noticing promising results in comparison with the nanoparticulate systems. Furthermore, the remarkable templating behavior of the PIB-PEO block copolymers is also presented by the preparation of hierarchical silica powders. Due to the structural complexity of these latter systems their characterization could not be exhaustively carried out by means of standard analysis approaches. The employment of the in-situ SAXS/SANS-physisorption technique provided thus an exclusive possibility to study in detail the porosity and its organization in these hierarchical materials. Interesting applications of this novel characterization technique are given also by the analysis of further systems like periodic mesoporous organosilicas (PMOs).

Vicinal Si(111) surfaces are used as templates for the growth of Pb nanowires as well as Au and In atom chains. The morphology of the Au atom chains was studied by use of STM and RHEED. The In chains were investigated by infrared spectroscopy with the electrical field component of the IR light polarized either parallel or perpendicular to the wires. It is shown that at room temperature, In chains display a plasmonic absorption feature along the chain but not in the perpendicular direction. Furthermore, upon cooling down to liquid nitrogen temperature, a metal to insulator transition is observed. A structural distortion is also confirmed by RHEED. As for the result of Pb nanowires, by means of IRS, it is now possible to control the average length of parallel nanowire arrays by monitoring four experimental parameters that influence on the nucleation density, namely:Pb coverage, evaporation rate, substrate temperature and the surface itself. The system shows an enhancement of the absorption at the antenna frequency in the low temperature regime. This scenario is assigned to the reduction of electron-phonon scattering due to low temperature.

The work covered herein discusses for the first time various techniques used in the fabrication of metal oxide nanofibers and nanotubes from eletrospun carbon fibers as templates. The nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning metal oxide precursor inside a polymer matrix. The metal oxide tubes were by tubes by fiber templating. This was followed by calcination to yield the nanofibers and nanotubes. Their morphological, structural, optoelectronic and catalytic properties are also discussed. Among key applications they have found utilization as catalyst supports. Palladium nanoparticles have been supported on Titanium dioxide nanofibers and applied in Heck-coupling reactions. Similarly, included is the effect of impurities on the metal oxide tubes properties done by doping with metal ions. In addition, photocatalytic behavior of metal oxides nanofibers have also been discussed.
